Wait, what? Did someone just throw us right into the set of the movie “The Holiday”? Or are we just stopping by set designer Frida Thofelt’s (@fridasfinds) charming house, at the turn of the month, before Christmas? You know the answer. Please enjoy this unpretentious and super cozy visit to a home where the warmth is hard to deny, ice is a must, and snacks are a religion.

Our house:
A cute yellow house on Lidingö, outside Stockholm.
We live here:
Me, My husband, Magnus, and our two boys, Harry, 11, and Henry, 6.
What we do:
I work as a set designer and stylist, Magnus, with retail. The kids? Skate and Pokémon, I guess.

Tuesday evening ends at:
For me, probably at the same time as Henry falls asleep, so like 8.30.
Before turning out the lights, you always:
Do exactly what you shouldn’t, check my email, and scroll Insta. Then, to be sure that I get a good night of nervous sleep, I put on an episode of Modern Family that I usually watch, like the first 2-3 min of. Oh yes, of course I brush my teeth and clean my face, etc, etc.
Who/what are sharing your bed:
Well, the standard is Magnus, but when he travels, which is quite often, I have 2 warm, cuddly kids in it.
Normally you sleep in:
A T-shirt and panties.
The last dream you remember:
Ouff, too bad, I’m really lousy at lying because here maybe you would prefer something dreamy, but it was me and my family on our way to New York. Yes, exactly, crazy turbulence, and the plan did like a loop? Then it landed, and we were in Norway, but the ground was made out of mud at the airport. So yes, that was a good night’s sleep!

On your night stand we will probably find:
A huge glass of water, jewellery, a lamp that’s lit 24/7, and a night cream.
Your best tip for a good night sleep would be:
Are you really asking me this after what you just heard, my dear?
Your evening beauty routine includes:
Well, I brush my teeth, which is boring but you know necessary. Use micellar water, which is really hard to pronounce, then the night mask from Maggie. If my hands get lucky, then maybe some hand cream that I got in a goodie bag!

This keeps you sleepless at night:
Work and fear of dying, or something happening to my loved ones. Of course, war, abuse of kids and animals, I mean, the world in general is not a happy place right now, so it’s hard to look away.
Instead of counting sheep you:
Think of what I really don’t want to happen with my kids, if I forgot something for work, or what dinner I want to make when Friday comes.
The best thing about your bedroom :
Oh, easy, the cushion and blankets from Engmo Dun. Magnus is really picky with choosing the perfect ones and has made me really spoiled with what I sleep in. Perfect temp and so fluffy! Also, the view, to go to sleep and see the stars and wake up and see water, that’s amazing.
Your best midnight snack:
Is it something to start with? I mean, if I’m up having wine, then olives, artichoke, or weggies with dip!

Tuesday morning starts at:
I wake up around 5-6, sneak downstairs, and make my special iced coffee in a terrible huge thermos cup from „Normal“ that keeps the ice all day, which I love. I love ice.
Your alarm sounds like:
I wake up without an alarm, but it’s always set for me to not forget something, and by some reason, it’s always extremely high even though the sound is off. My family loves this(not).
The first thing you see when you open your eyes are:
My hysterical wallpaper. I love it and feel bad about painting over it since it was there when we moved in, but it’s so much going on there, you know.
Your morning mood could be described as:
Usually quite good, I think? I hope so, hehe.
A normal breakfast would be like:
Weekdays, two iced coffees at home, maybe an egg if Magnus boils one for me. A knäckebröd sandwich that I grab in the car around 10! Weekends, maybe sourdough from our favourite bakery with cheddar and Caviar!
Your birthday breakfast should be like:
Could we delay it a bit? So I can get like omelette-hungry? In that case, it’s a French omelette that melts in the mouth!
Your morning beauty routine includes:
Same as the evening, but just switch to day cream! A quick shower. Sorry, I’m so bored with this whole beauty thing, but it is really boring and time-consuming, so give me something that’s fast and works, and you’ll have yourself a client for life.
A dreamy weekend morning could be like:
The kids sneaking up into the bed, just chit-chatting, and with a coffee on my nightstand. Slow start, maybe planning a dinner party with close friends or family.
My dos and don’ts when making the bed:
I want a lot of pillows, that’s my only rule, I guess. And the bedsheets don’t have to be the same, but I need a nice match to sleep in them!
Also, we just have to ask. How do you celebrate X-mas this year? And more importantly, how will you decorate it??
I love Christmas! And I think I have done like 8 Christmas jobs so far this autumn, so I’m full of inspiration (and props)! I plan to do a few big installations. A huge bow on the fireplace, maybe, one of those gigantic, super expensive mistletoes over the table? One tree outside and one inside, at least! And a big wreath on my door, of course!
